Now Health WorldCare: cover benefit by benefit

IPMIBenefits reads Now Health International's WorldCare plans benefit by benefit: a four-step ladder where each level adds a benefit, two waiting periods that set the calendar, and the same three cost levers on every level.

Last updated: 20 October 2026 · Reviewed by IPMIBenefits
In short: Now Health WorldCare is a four-step ladder: Essential is in-patient and day-patient only, Advance adds out-patient care, Excel raises out-patient limits and adds routine and complex dental after a nine-month wait, and Apex adds routine maternity after a twelve-month wait. Every level offers the same deductible, per-visit excess and co-insurance options, and individuals are fully medically underwritten with no moratorium option.
Key takeaways
  • Annual maximums run from US$3m on Essential to US$4.5m on Apex, with exact sub-limits in the Table of Benefits.
  • Dental needs Excel or Apex and a nine-month wait; routine maternity needs Apex and a twelve-month wait.
  • Cost levers on every level: an in-patient deductible up to US$15,000, a US$15 or US$25 out-patient excess and 10% or 20% co-insurance.
  • Every individual plan is fully medically underwritten; switchers may be offered continuous transfer terms or continued personal medical exclusions.
  • Extended evacuation and repatriation is an option on every level; check the Table of Benefits for what the base plan includes.

Plans and cover levels

WorldCare is Now Health International's flagship international private medical insurance (IPMI) for globally mobile individuals and families. It comes in four levels, from hospital-only cover to a top plan that adds routine dental and maternity, and every level offers the same deductible and co-insurance options. Now Health also sells SimpleCare, a lower-cost product built around cover close to home; the two sit at opposite ends of the insurer's range.

PlanAnnual maximum plan limitWhat it adds
WorldCare EssentialUS$3,000,000In-patient and day-patient care only; small out-patient add-on optional
WorldCare AdvanceUS$3,500,000Adds out-patient care: GP and specialist visits, physiotherapy, alternative therapies
WorldCare ExcelUS$4,000,000Higher out-patient limits; routine and complex dental after a 9-month wait
WorldCare ApexUS$4,500,000Highest limits; routine maternity after a 12-month wait

Limits are from Now Health's WorldCare plan pages. Exact sub-limits are in the plan's Table of Benefits and can differ by the territory the plan is issued in. Two options change the area of cover: USA elective treatment extends cover to planned treatment in the United States, and an Africa restriction narrows it. Both are chosen at quote and both change the premium.

What this plan does for each benefit

WorldCare is unusually easy to read benefit by benefit because each step on the ladder is defined by what it adds. Here is each of the eight benefits IPMIBenefits covers, with the level that unlocks it.

If dental or maternity is the reason you are buying, the calendar matters more than the limit: nine months on Excel for dental, twelve on Apex for maternity. Buy the right level early.

Cost controls on every level

Every WorldCare level offers the same three levers:

  1. Annual deductible on in-patient and day-patient treatment, with a wide range of options up to US$15,000 for buyers who want the lowest possible premium.
  2. Out-patient per-visit excess of US$15 or US$25 (Advance and above).
  3. Out-patient co-insurance, where you pay 10% or 20% of each out-patient bill.

A high deductible is the biggest single saving but only makes sense if you can comfortably absorb it in a bad year; the excess and co-insurance options trim the premium more gently. Our guide to excess, deductible and cost sharing helps you pick a combination you can live with.

Underwriting and pre-existing conditions

Now Health's published position is distinctive:

FMU-only is a genuine difference from insurers that also offer moratorium terms. If you have medical history, the exact terms offered matter more than the headline price; our pre-existing conditions guide explains why. Nomi can flag it, and an experienced adviser confirms the terms before you buy.

Service, claims and who carries the risk

Who Now Health WorldCare suits

A strong fit if you want high annual limits with a clear four-step ladder, you value published service standards for claims, pre-authorisation and underwriting turnaround, and you are comfortable with full medical underwriting or transferring with terms carried across.

Worth comparing alternatives if price is the main driver (Now Health's own SimpleCare sits at the value end), you would prefer a moratorium underwriting option, or you need dental or maternity sooner than the nine- and twelve-month waits allow. Browse the insurer hub to see who else covers those benefits and when.

Frequently asked questions

Which WorldCare level includes outpatient cover?
Advance and above. Advance adds GP and specialist visits, physiotherapy and alternative therapies; Excel raises the out-patient limits. Essential is in-patient and day-patient only, with a small optional out-patient add-on.
Does WorldCare cover dental and maternity?
Routine and complex dental is included on Excel and Apex after a nine-month waiting period. Routine maternity is included on Apex only, after a twelve-month waiting period. IPMIBenefits suggests buying the right level well before you expect to claim.
Does Now Health offer moratorium underwriting?
Not for individuals. Every individual plan is fully medically underwritten at application. If you are switching from another insurer, Now Health may offer continuous transfer terms or continued personal medical exclusions instead.
Can I reduce the WorldCare premium?
Yes. Every level offers an annual deductible on in-patient and day-patient treatment with options up to US$15,000, and Advance and above add an out-patient per-visit excess of US$15 or US$25 and out-patient co-insurance of 10% or 20%.
Is evacuation included on WorldCare?
Extended evacuation and repatriation is listed as an option on every level. Check the Table of Benefits for your territory to see what the base plan includes before deciding whether to add the extended option.
Who actually underwrites a Now Health plan?
Now Health International administers the plan; the insurer depends on where it is issued. Most rest-of-world plans are insured by Best Doctors Insurance Limited (Bermuda); the UK and Europe use Starr, Hong Kong AXA General Insurance, Singapore and Indonesia Sompo, and the UAE Arabia Insurance.
